Transporting machines

Can I transport a working 70's era sq top Pepsi machine by laying it on it's side/back?
Does it need to be transpoted in an upright position?

It is just fine to lay the machine down. Just don't plug it in for about 24 hours after it is upright as the oil needs to settle back into the compressor. I have moved many machines this way and I have never had a problem.
